Revised Contract
My Senior studio project will be a series of 8- 16 photos. The photos will be taken with a canon Rebel t3i dslr and edited with adobe photoshop. They will be displayed in a hazmat tent.
The concept that drives my project is self-reflection. The story is based off of my own personal experience with self-reflection over the summer. My project will deal with seeing the flaws in ones heart, and the masks that people wear to hide these from others. The piece will follow around a modern day plague doctor in hazmat garb, which includes a suit and gas mask. The doctor will be attempting to help a victim of the technological plague that causes people to die of isolation. He fails and the person dies. The doctor will return home and removes his suit and mask in front of a mirror to show that he himself is infected by the plague and couldn't even help himself.
The style of photography is going to be fairly straight forward photography with minor photoshopping to accentuate certain features, or HDR photography with similar accentuation on details. Both will be tested and the best result will be used. It will be displayed in a small hazmat tent, the viewer will be given a doctor/surgeon mask prior to them entering the tent for the viewer to have for their own realization that they are physically removing a mask of their own. Which will bring them closer to their self-reflection process.
Photos will be printed in the cave lab on whatever paper I deem fit and will be 2-3 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide and framed. The glass in the frames will possibly be broken, scratched, and damaged to go along with the theme of abandoned and broken down as well as the theme of the plague. Materials needed will be a Cannon Rebel T3i, hazmat suit, gas mask, body paints, black lights, printer paper, possibly a light kit, a tripod, and a hazmat tent.

Animation plot
The story takes place during the 14th century during the Bubonic Plague. We follow a doctor walking through a town dressed in the a full black cloak and a long beaked doctors mask. The doctor approaches a house that has gone into shambles due to the plague and lack of care. He knocks on the door and enters. Inside is a sick and dying victim of the plague. The doctor approaches him and starts to examine him. He lifts up the victim's arm and removes the leaches that are on it. The victims hand is very limp and very pale. The doctor reaches into his bag to grab a bottle of medicines that he had made, but when he turns back the victim is completely lifeless. He checks for a pulse, shakes his head, and then leaves the house. After closing the door he pulls out a piece of chalk and draws a large white X on the door. As he walks down the street every house he passes has an X on their doors as well. He returns to his house. He removes his cloak and hat and stands in front of the mirror. He removes his mask and reveals that he is actually dead himself. He sighs and shakes his head.

Senior Studio Contract
Bob Black
Senior Studio Contract
My Senior Studio project will be a
3D animation that will be between 1-3 minutes long. The majority of the
animation will be done in Autodesk Maya. This will then be moved into after
effects and then edited to include sounds, music, and other minor characters.
Papakura will also be used to make a mask for the projects display in the
gallery.
The Concept that drives my project
is self-reflection. The story for this animation was based off of my
self-reflection during the summer. The theme that my project will address is
the process of self-reflection and dealing with ones personal issues and
thoughts. The piece will consist
of a scarecrow that is trying to stop being scary, attempts to hide is problem
behind a mask, but eventually expresses who he really is through music.
The style is going to be a mesh of
2 and 3D animation. The project however will be displayed through a mask that
the viewer will have to look through. This will bring about the idea that the
viewer, once they take off the mask has to remove the mask from them as well.
Bringing about the idea that they were hiding behind their own mask. Bringing
about the idea of what else they were hiding from. Thus providing the
self-reflection process.
My animation will be done in a
movie file format (.mov) and will be constrained to a television that will be a
flat panel television. This will be mounted on the wall and encased in a small
box with a mask on the front to look through. This will be no bigger than 30-35
inches for the tv and the case together. So wall space will be very minimal.
Materials that will be needed to
make the animation include a computer with the program Autodesk Maya. A program
that prints Papakura, a printer, materials to put the papers together as well
as some form of glue will be needed for production. I will also need materials
to form the container for the flat panel television and a television for the
piece. I will also need a dvd player that can be set to loop and play the
animation on.
